It’s been over a month now and I’m still speechless. Adele in Munich was just, *chef’s kiss* and I’m still reminiscing about that magical evening. This was her residency in Europe and I was glad it was in Munich. The Bavarian city wasn’t somewhere I had considered visiting before and I would always associate it with Bayern Munich and Oktoberfest, but it is more than that. I’ll post my Munich trip in a separate post.

“So a few months ago I got a call about a summer run of shows. been content as anything with my shows in London’s Hyde Park and my residency in Vegas, so I hadn’t had any other plans. However, I was too curious to not follow up and indulge in this idea – a one off, bespoke pop-up stadium designed around whatever show I want to put on? Ohh!? Pretty much slap bang in the middle of Europe? In Munich? That’s a bit random, but still fabulous! Right after the Euros? Come on England! With the Olympics next door? Go on Simone! And some of my favourite artists playing shows too? Why…YES!! I haven’t played in Europe since 2016! I couldn’t think of a more wonderful way to spend my summer and end this beautiful phase of my life and career with shows closer to home during such an exciting summer.”

Adele

I am so grateful to be able to see her live at her last concert during this 10-night European residency and before she disappears for a long time (a well-deserved one to say the least!). Not many artists I’ve seen have left a long-lasting impression on me as Adele did.

The venue, Messe München, east of the city, was transformed into an unforgettable experience. The outdoor space was an attraction called “Adele World” where you could relax before the concert with food, bars, beer gardens, live entertainment, a Ferris wheel etc. It was a vibe and a good way to spend some time. I was able to grab some Adele exclusive Haribo.

Then comes the bespoke open-air Adele Arena with the queen herself. The screen achieved a Guinness World Record for the “largest continuous outdoor LED screen (temporary)”. The graphics and seeing her live on this screen were perfectly designed and tailored for each song. It also was an amazing view for those who were sat further back and couldn’t see her up close. Let’s say, there wasn’t a dry eye in sight. This shows how impactful she is thanks to her lyrics, voice, growth and career. Along with her British humour and her love for her t-shirt gun, she was open and vulnerable, showing her authenticity to her fans.

We were treated to a live performance of “Chasing Pavements”, a song she hasn’t performed since 2017. Since it has a special place in Germany, it was fitting and an honour to hear it. The weather was beautiful which was the cherry on top.

I could go on and on about this once-in-a-lifetime experience but to simply put it, it was amazing, breathtaking and unforgettable.
