As you know, vitamin C products especially serums don’t really have a good shelf life and will start to yellow over time due to oxidisation, quicker if it’s not stored correctly. The product then goes to waste and money down the drain just like that. So, could this elmt vitamin C serum be the next big thing and inspire future skin technology? Let’s dig deep, shall we?
I have received this product from Wishtend for review purposes but all thoughts are my own. This post does contain affiliate links.
So what is elmt Pure Vitamin C 20% Element and how is it different from other vitamin C products? A waterless product that is activated when it touches the skin’s moisturiser means the product has an impressive shelf.
We’ve controlled vitamin C’s time, so you can control your skin’s time. Pure Vitamin C 20% Element uses vitamin C in its purest form – ascorbic acid, to help visibly increase elasticity and balance an uneven skin tone. Highly lauded for its beneficial effects, but notorious for its instability, vitamin C’s fresh potency is captured in time through elmt’s innovative powder-in-suspension formula and airtight container. Our 2-Tier Stabilization Technology first locks in the effectiveness of vitamin C with the help of a bio-ferment extract, which is then suspended in a biolipid base to prevent activation until you need it.

Controlled Vitamin C’s Time
A water-soluble vitamin C powder that activates upon contact with the skin’s moisture.
They recommend applying it on damp skin after cleansing or after a water-based toner or serum. I use it right after the elmt activating toner and it’s a match made in heaven. Have I found my new favourite vitamin serum? Oh hell yes! Scream it from the top of the hill for everyone to hear.
It recommended one or two pumps but I find half a pump was enough for a full face otherwise it’ll be too much and the product goes to waste. The product is thick and if you put it on dry skin, it’s not going to spread or absorb easily. But once it touches your skin’s moisture, it starts to spread easily (not immediately though) and I can massage it in without tugging. Once absorbed, there’s no residue or irritation but rather a natural glow and have found it amazing on oily skin. My face doesn’t drown in oil during the day. It layers nicely, using a moisturiser afterwards to keep it locked in and SPF after for optimal protection.
With its potency (20% vitamin C), I would expect to see results soon, within 2 weeks maybe but it took slightly longer to see some benefits. Possibly because I only use it in the mornings only? It does help the spot scars after popping heal quicker and generally brightened my skin overall. I’m hoping to see some improvement in reducing sunspots but only time can tell.
At $33.75 (around £27), it is a bit on the pricier side but I’m happy to spend it on a product with a long shelf life rather than throwing out a similarly priced and concentrated product once it starts to oxidise after a few months. The reality is, it works out cheaper in the long run.
Overall, it’s a unique concept, I haven’t seen anything like this before. Absolutely genius. Thank you elmt for your technical abilities and for producing Pure Vitamin C 20% Element.
