I’ve spent the final two weeks of the year ill with whatever bug that’s been doing the rounds, not a good way to end the year but thankfully it wasn’t covid otherwise I would probably cry! Doesn’t it feel like this year has flown by a lot quicker than the previous? I can’t remember much of it which is why documenting it into a monthly post would be a great way to document it all without me thinking I’ve wasted my year doing nothing. I hate wasting time these days.

Yayoi Kusama, We Finally Meet
As mentioned in my September post, I was able to snatch up a ticket to the most hyped exhibition in the latest ticket releases. depicts her experience with sexism and racism as well as her mental health. While her spacial awareness is remarkable and have used it very well in her pieces, I can’t help but feel the “Infinitely Mirrored Room” itself left me slightly underwhelmed. I’m not sure whether it’s because I was expecting it to be in a much bigger space or whether it was because I had queued 20-30 mins to enter that room and had lost my head a little due to the heat whilst queuing up. I was more impressed with the “Chandelier of Grief” room.
Not only are there only two rooms, but there are also other works such as “Walking Piece” and portraits of her life and career. Having these additional pieces lets you understand Yayoi further and how it influences her work. Is this worth a full review so I can delve further into this? Possibly. Due to its popularity, the date has been extended and I can see there are plenty of tickets still available for January through to March. For the dates after, the tickets will be released in the next round.

Super Mario Christmas
First of all, how freaking amazing is my tree topper? I was trying to find the perfect tree topper and was originally going to opt for the typical glimmery star until I encountered this on Etsy (affiliate link) – a Super Mario star! I could not stop thinking about it and let’s be honest, it doesn’t go well with the decoration theme but who the hell cares; it looks epic. It makes me excited to see the new film too.
I need to buy fairy lights to insert so it can light up. If you want something different for next Christmas, I would highly recommend this. Everyone will start talking about it, even during your team meetings if they see it in the background. I can’t stop staring at it.
