Long time no write! I’ve been meaning to update you all but as usual, things get in the way and I’ve been exploring too. I’ve also been wondering how to document the first few weeks, whether to do an individual posts or do a summary like this. There are two upcoming posts on its way about two recent adventures which you may have seen on my Instagram.
Tiananmen (天安门)
I remember visiting on a Sunday during my first week in Beijing.I wasn’t able to enter the Forbidden City but next time I will. Note to everyone, buy your tickets online and from the official website. Instead, I had visited the garden next to Tiananmen. The entry was 2元 and it was a nice garden to spend the afternoon and had found hidden gems like the above photo. Leaving the garden, there was a crowd gathering at Tianamen and being the shorty I am, I wasn’t able to properly see what was going on. I ended up looking at someone’s phone who was recording, #shortpeopleproblems. It turns out it was the official lowering of the flag at sun down. It’s always nice to witness something like this. I believe this is a daily ritual.
Pizza Festival
Pizza is life. A friend had told me about a pizza festival happening on a weekend and being the pizza fanatic I am, I had to attend. Pizza stalls, beer stalls, just food stalls left and right. The highlight of this festival was the humungous pizza, pizza goals much? I’m going to keep this one short as I’m currently salivating about pizza whilst typing this up.
teamLab at Pace Beijing (teamLab在佩斯北京)
There was a teamLab exhibition at the Pace showcasing Living Digital Forest and Future Park(花舞森林与未来游乐园). This consists of various digital artwork that focuses on the use of light. There is an interactive area for kids and those who are a kid at heart (everyone) to play and what their drawing come to life. According to Pace and teamLab’s website, they both state the exhibition is on until the 19th November 2017. If you’re in Beijing and need something to do, go to the 798 art district and spend a few hours at this exhibition, then walk around the district to see the art. Entry is 120元 on the weekdays and 150元 on the weekends.
