VICTORIA LEEDS
Ah a new shopping centre opened it’s doors yesterday. Victoria Gate is the newest addition to the Leeds shopping scene and is now a part of Victoria Leeds, along with Victoria Quarter. I was at work when the grand opening was happening so I was relying on Twitter and Snapchat to keep me updated! I decided to pop in during my lunch break and have a gander.
Greeted by performances, I was mesmerised by the architecture. I love a beautiful design. When you enter via the main entrance, you will see the left side of the centre has a purple glow above. The new casino will be above once it’s opened later this year.
Just look at the ribbon ripple along the top of the stores, oh my. This is architecture porn for me. That’s the only way I can really describe my love for architecture. I’ll just let the photos do the talking.
Now let’s talk about shops? Firstly, it is the home of the largest John Lewis outside of London. 5 floors of goodness. Then you get stores that are new to Leeds like Anthropology, Ghost, Neom, & Other Stories, T2, COS, Aspinal of London etc. I couldn’t contain my happiness as I see what stores are here. There’s currently a Harvey Nichols Christmas pop up store so do drop by whilst you can. I could feel my bank account emptying just by walking around. If my friends don’t receive any presents this year, I erm blame VG!
I haven’t had the chance to go into any of the stores but hopefully, I can have a browse around this weekend.
There are new cafes and restaurants too. I know where I’m going to start spending my lunch breaks now. It is smaller than I had expected but I am a sucker for beautiful architecture. This is phase one. The work on phase two should be commencing any time now and I’ve heard it’ll have even more stores, a food court and a leisure area. Whatever they’ve got planned, it’s exciting regardless!
I didn’t take any photos of the exterior but how lush is the architecture? Acme had designed this. The John Lewis building was inspired by Leed’s textile history whilst the shopping centre is a modern interpretation of Victorian architecture. You can see more photos here.
That architecture is amazing! I am a fan of beautiful architecture. Hope the shops are good too!
Wow this is a beautiful mall here. Love the architecture.
What a great, stylish addition to the city centre! Love Leeds.
This looks incredible! Those floors would make for the best instagram shot, am I right? I know, I need to get off social media. Ha!
