Working Out for Free

FREE YOU SAY?

You hear the word “gym” being thrown around here, there, everywhere. It’s not for everyone. There are other fitness memberships out there to suit everyone but you don’t need a membership to keep fit. If you’re on a tight budget or you simply don’t want to pay for a membership of any sort, there are plenty of free workouts out there.

YouTube – YouTube is your best friend. There are many workout videos and fitness channels out there. Blogilates, The Body Coach, Lumowell, BeFiT, FitnessBlender to name a few. You can find a workout/channel to suit you and to your liking, whether it’s yoga, ballet style training, HIIT, learn how to do push-ups correctly etc. You can do this in the comfort of your own home. Even a hotel room too if you’re out and about. Get family, friends involved too.

Sweaty Betty – Sweaty Betty host free workout classes in store which you can sign up to online. Different stores host different types of classes so do look online as you can book a class a week in advance. Do be quick though, as they do get booked up fast. If you can’t make a class, they also do free workout videos on their website.

Darebee – Darebee is an online fitness resource containing many fitness programs, challenges and workouts for you to choose from. The programs and challenges last 30, 60 or 90 days. You can pick whether you want a cardio workout or target a certain body part. If you don’t want to follow an x day programme, there are many individual workout sessions for you. The best thing about Darebee is that you can track and tick off the days as you go along online, there’s a timer and you can tick off the number of sets as you go along too. You can also download any of the workouts/program/challenges as a pdf. Put it on your phone, tablet or view on the computer.

Fitness Apps – With some apps, you may have to pay to use but there are plenty of free ones out there and there’s some you don’t need to have data or wifi connection. I have picked out some apps in a blog post here however as that was posted last year, I have found more apps ever since, like Lumowell. Explore the app stores, read the reviews etc.

Nature – Workout in the park, on a park bench, find a set of stairs, the beach, a trail, go hiking, cycle etc. Make use of the environment around. At the same time, you are admiring the beauty of nature around and who knows, you might stumble upon a new area.

There’s something for everyone. There’s no need to buy equipment as you can use your body weight and or make use of household items. I’ve even used a small suitcase.

Are there any other free workouts you would recommend?

These are all great sources! I actually dont like to watch videos as I work out so I tend to go on pinterest to find work out plans and maybe new moves I can try out when I'm getting bored of my routine. 😛

This is such a great post. I suffer from chronic illness so a gym membership is out of the equation for me – I'm often too tired or too sore, but on my good days, I'd love to be able to work out a bit more. I might look into some of these.
