“This is weird” was a common phrase I have used whilst being in the US as it was the first time I’ve been to this part across the Atlantic and it’s different to the UK. Savannah may be a random place to visit but I was there for my best friend’s wedding. She was getting married on Tybee Island.
The first thing I had noticed was the Southern American accent and how everyone says “ya’ll” and “sir/ma’am”. Whatever I had seen in films or tv series actually did portray what I saw whilst in real life. This included the scenery, housing, roads, habits etc. It’s the little things that made me feel like an “American” for example, going to the liquor store and seeing them bag the alcohol into paper bags. The cashier even heard me say “I feel like an American” and she laughed. It’s things like this that puts a smile on my face.
I did explore Savannah however due to the tight schedule, I wasn’t able to fully explore both Savannah and Tybee Island. Then again, I did enjoy chilling in the hot tub and swimming pool in the wedding house in Tybee and had taken advantage of this. I was able to get some colour, and now, I’m tanned and burnt at the same time. I am definitely missing the bikini life right now.
The wedding was beautiful, the dress, the venue, everything. I definitely was in tears throughout the day and night and a mop and bucket were needed! I’m very happy and very proud of her. Proud of what she’s been doing and have achieved. Forever a best friend.
I would definitely visit again when I have the spare time to properly explore both locations and many more around the surrounding areas.
Here are some photos I had taken throughout my journey:
Have you visited the US?

I love the US and really want to revist. Great post!
I love the US and have been to lots of different states but this was before I had my children.
I love US though not been to this state. Looks like a lovely place to visit.
No I haven't but I would like to! I have always wanted to go to the US and glad you had a good time!
I've only been to LA and San Francisco and the suburbs, like San Mateo. I took an Amtrak train ride from LA to San Francisco all by myself so I could see the California countryside. 🙂
Oooh, the South is a place we'd like to experience. it looks lovely in the movies and the people seem warm.
oh look at all those yummy chocolate things on sticks!! They all look so nice
I have been to the States many times, but have never been to GA! I would love to have a stay there though. Such charm and elegance.
I've never heard of this place before but the food looks amazing and so does the weather! Sounds like your friend had a really lovely wedding 🙂
This place is so beautiful and I will keep that in mind. Hopefully I will get to go Tybee Island.
It looks beautiful there and sounds like you had an amazing time! We're saving up to go to New York and that will be my first time in the US
It sounds like a great place to visit and one to put on my growing list 🙂
I don't know if I'll ever find the opportunity to visit Tybee Island or this part of the US. Your description of "weird" caught my attention.

Oh wow what an amazing place to visit – your photos just make me want to pack and go! x
It's too bad you weren't able to fully explore svannah and tybee. Would love your next update if you're going back!
It looks like a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. It would be a refreshing place for some rest and recreation as well as enjoying the local culture and dishes.
It looks amazing, but I've never been to Savannah. I've been to US several times and enjoy it everytime. I used to live in Canada too and I wouldn't mind moving back at some point. 🙂
