DIY Nail Polish Remover

A bit optimistic with the Bourjois who subheading aren’t I? However, here is an easy tutorial which will take you no more than 5 minutes to do. It’ll save you from wasting a lot of cotton balls/pads (I use quite a bit when removing nail polish especially those that are harder to remove). This tutorial doesn’t contain any mixing unknown, dangerous, random chemicals if you have read the post title in a different way.

Tools needed:
A small jar or container
Nail polish remover
Any sort of sponge (soft preferably)
Scissors

1. Remove the rough part of the sponge. You can either cut it off or tear it off. When you’re tearing it off, be careful with it as you want the soft sponge part to be in one piece. You can discard the rough part or still use it to clean dishes etc.

2. Fold the sponge in half horizontally and put it into the jar.

3. Pour your nail polish remover into the jar until your sponge is saturated.

4. Put the lid on and you’re done! You can always decorate the jar if it is unattractive to you.

Or you can use it straight away.

The sponge will become less dense when it absorbs liquid. You could always insert another sponge or two into the jar if you would like it more dense. In the end, I have added another one after testing it out initially. It’s all down to personal preference. With a clear jar or container, you can see how saturated the sponge is. With that, you are able to refill it whenever it is needed and is also effortless to replace or adjust the sponge. It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3.

I haven’t actually tested out the Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover therefore I can’t comment or compare the two. This may not be the 1 second remover like Boujois from what I’ve read but it is still an effective remover. Please excuse the slight photo discolouration. Flickr has some how distorted the colours slightly (well brightened it up when it really shouldn’t).
