China Glaze Nail Lacquer in Luxe and Lush: £5.80

SPARKLY

This is my first China Glaze product and had never really though of purchasing from this brand. Unsure as to why. Most likely it hasn’t crossed my mind and I haven’t read many reviews on any products from this brand. We all have to start somewhere when trying out a new brand right?

I was attracted by this particular polish because of the iridescent flake pieces it has. There is a mixture of sizes from tiny specks to a larger, more noticeable size. The main base colour is white but as the light hits it, it gives off a golden colour and different colours depending on your base colour. The three main reflecting colours are gold, pink and blue.

The formula of the polish itself is thick and found it slightly hard to use. Upon the first coat, you do get the right amount of glitter pieces. They lie flat onto the nail. I was able to adjust the position of some pieces easily with the brush right after the first application before it started to dry. Once dried, it does give a wonderful effect on the nail but doesn’t have a smooth texture. A topcoat can fix that though. One to two coats is enough. I’ve tried 3 coats and it end effect wasn’t as pleasant looking plus it took ages to fully dry. This works well on all nail polish colours ranging from the lights to the darks, pastel to the candy brights, nude to the neon. You get the picture.

This has a decent drying time and had lasted a while, 4+ days. It had also depended on the base colour brand. I’ve been looking for a nail polish like this for ages and this was the only one I could get my hands on. For now, I like it except for for the formula. I want to experiment with it more. This was a part of the Hunger Games 2012 collection but you are still able to find it on eBay.

What do you think of this flake effect?
